Message from Director

The proposed Center for Peace Studies (CPS) is envisioned as a dynamic regional and global platform committed to shaping inclusive and lasting peace. By bringing together academics, researchers, and practitioners, the CPS will serve as a world-class interdisciplinary center of excellence for peacebuilding, conflict resolution, strategic research, and policy innovation that advances sustainable peace, democratic resilience, and regional security—rooted in Bangladesh and globally relevant.

The Center's commitment to advancing scholarly research and practical strategies on peace, security, and regional geopolitics, promoting dialogue among key stakeholders, and training the next generation of peacebuilders will be foundational to its success. Its signature project, the "Strategic Peace Index (SPI) for Bangladesh and South Asia," represents a pioneering effort to provide evidence-driven insights into conflict risks, democratic trends, and climate-security intersections.

Through its core research areas, encompassing peace and conflict studies, democracy and authoritarianism, security and strategic studies, and emerging fields like climate and environmental peacebuilding, the CPS will generate critical knowledge and provide evidence-based policy guidance. With a robust institutional structure, strategic partnerships, and a clear set of objectives, the Center for Peace Studies is well-positioned to make significant advances in sustainable peace, democratic resilience, and regional security—rooted in Bangladesh and with global relevance. The CPS will be a vital resource for addressing contemporary and future challenges in peace and security, contributing to a more stable and peaceful world.
