1. Seed Funding from NSU/Government
The Center for Peace Studies (CPS) will strategically utilize initial seed funding provided by North South University (NSU) as the foundational capital. This critical support will primarily be allocated to launching core research initiatives, including the development of the CPS Signature Project. By focusing on these initial research endeavors, CPS will rapidly build its expertise, establish a strong track record of empirical output, and demonstrate tangible impact. This proven capability and intellectual capital will support CPS to secure external grants from diverse international donors, foundations, and partner organizations, ensuring the Center's long-term growth and self-sustainability.
2. External Funding Strategy:
CPS is actively engaged in notable international collaborations. In 2021–2022, Dr. M Jashim Uddin, the Director of CPS, received funding of approximately 28 lakh BDT from the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) for a project on Rohingya Voice. Currently, CPS is collaborating with German institutions such as ABI Freiburg and the Heinrich Böll Foundation, from which it has received 8 lakh BDT to organize a Dialogue and Photo Exhibition on the July Revolution. These partnerships highlight CPS’s commitment to global scholarly exchange and joint initiatives.
CPS is pursuing a very proactive and strategic external funding approach, primarily through targeted grant applications to international and multilateral organizations such as UN agencies (e.g., UNHCR, UNDP, UN Peacebuilding Support Office), the European Union and various bilateral donors (e.g., JICA, Japan Foundation). Throughout all funding endeavors, the CPS commits to maintaining rigorous financial management and transparent reporting to build trust and ensure sustained partnerships.
